A few quibbles. While both Buddhism and Hinduism have hells, multiple, both hot and cold, one is not there for eternity, only until the mind evolves, to be at least somewhat more compassionate.
Judaism does not officially have a Hell. Where the evil ones go has a name, but there is no consensus as to what happens there.
My basic problem with Hell is that my view is of a universal unity. No person is not a part of the whole. If unity is how this life and universe works, why would we condemn a part of ourselves to such a fate?
In Judaism, again, there is no Devil. Satan who appears in both Genesis and The Book of Job, may be called The Adversary, but he is always under God’s command.
Finally, if we are part of a unity, other than Envy, why would one back the so-called number two guy, and be in a perpetual battle, as opposed to going straight to the head guy, and be part of the whole, united both mind and body with what we call God, in a state of Grace or Peace for eternity?
In essence Hell is a very bad head trip.
After all that, really liked your piece.
