Am not asking you to forgive him, just that he may not be entirely as black as you paint. His desire for a comfortable life led him to decisions where other human beings are concerned that are indefensible. That is not all there is to Jefferson. Until the Little Red Book of Mao, Jefferson was the most read revolutionary in history. His ideals if not his practice deserves some praise.

It does not deserve obscuring what he did, just laying it along side everything else.
