Am sorry this was visited upon you. It may depend on where you were, city.

Oakland had Calvin Simmons, a wonderful conductor. My wife used to play in his orchestra occasionally, at his request, she like me, was white. But Oakland is in the Bay Area, and that may be quite different than where you went.

Anyone who truly loves music, instead of being seen, would welcome anyone who cared to come, and perhaps learn something from them. Have had some wonderful conversations with fellow seat mates, who will never see again, about the works to be played, how they were played, and just other thoughts.

It is something that all should have and celebrate, perhaps someday, you will experience it more often.
