As long as it communicates to the reader it worthy. On the other hand, merely extolling a work, for ignoring the rules, is not a benefit to the author either.
Like it or not, the more one conforms to the standard, the wider the audience.
Howl by Alan Ginsburg and On The Road by Jack Kerouac did too.
There are plenty of ways of getting the message across that work, they just have to be authentic to the author.
