During World War II, the Nazi’s carried out “experiments” in their concentration camps, to find out how long a German pilot could last in the North Sea. Through their victims they discovered it was five to eight minutes at most.
Like with Mr. Lord, there was a lot of discussion on what to do with the knowledge. People had already died so that some might live, given that, no matter the source, the information could be used to save lives and has done so.
Perhaps where the Titanic sank is a bit warmer.
Remember this from reading The Rise and Fall of the Third Reich. It was a difficult late chapter in the book.
