From the age of four to being twelve,, I had three significant asthma attacks. Each time it was combined with congestive heart and lung failure, the one at twelve also included liver and kidney failure. Yet somehow here I am typing this out, more than sixty years later.
There was another at thirty two, when the doctor was asked if I would be alright, he said he would know more if I was there in the morning.
Also between four and twelve spent three years plus eight months in either convalescence hospitals or ICU’s.
I am well aware of what such places hold for me and have absolutely no desire to return there for a few more years or less.
I very much appreciate my autonomy and independence. I do not want my world made so small again or forgo conversations with friends, listening to music, etc., etc., and so forth.
If that were to happen euthanasia would be my choice. I have lived the alternative and it is not to my liking.
