From the words of St. Francis of Assisi, with some paraphrasing, it has been at least near fifty years since these words were last read.

"One cannot tell how much patience a man has when all is going well with him. It is only when the world turns against him, and he is beset by many woes, and then he has only as much patience as he has."

As my dad used to say: "Don't sell yourself short, plenty of others will do it for you.".

You did what you could, we all have limits, it is just a hard way to find out what they are, at least to some degree.
