Gave up TV some decades ago. Much of what you write is unknown to me. Will leave you with the words of Rod Serling: “Once Hollywood started paying directors and actors more than writers, everything went downhill”

. It has now, per your story, effected TV, video games, leaving the question what is next.
The story has been a mainstay, from religious examples, epic poems, histories, romantic ballads, reaching perhaps its greatest flowering in the novel. It set a time line, characters, place, for something to unfold.
That seems to be failing under almost religious politicalization, which has no interest in stories only in a point of view. That must be forced and reinforced.
This is but one view, which with luck will turn out to be but a momentary waver from mankind’s love of a good story.
