In Buddhism, a different perspective than most of Western experience, there is the Bodhisattva. It is a person who does not move on, purposely. They are here to help, to ease, and to both awaken those asleep and end the cycle of suffering, that existence, we know it, is. You may be underestimating yourself. ;)
