Justice Breyer, of the Supreme Court, has a degree in philosophy.
We live, and we die. The time in between is our life. Drive, ambition, anger are all variations of Force. Art, ideas, beauty, metaphysics are all callings, they ask nothing while offering worlds to discover, explore, and thrive in.
At death’s door, we are unlikely to regret not having had more, nearly so much, as being grateful for all our life encompassed.
That is the value of the Humanities.
