Kids do need to learn certain things. How to tie their shoes, to count, to read, some history, some science but most of all they need to be free to follow their own path.
We can drum things into them, but we can not make them stick. Individual learning is a very difficult task for a teacher, especially when they have to reach certain metrics. Still if we could let the children run instead of plod ahead in subjects they like, the others would become so much more palatable. Or at least that is my thought.
The kid may not know where they are going but for those with a North Star, they will get there, one way or another.
