Lived in the Tenderloin, in San Francisco, in the seventies. From my time there, learned not to judge anyone, on how they earned their money, as long as no harm was done to do so. Met guys who were kicked out of home, for being gay. Guys down on their luck, who needed to make rent. It is not my job to judge them. Appreciating them, for themselves, exchanging kindnesses, and letting them know, they were not just a piece of flesh, allowed for friendship, an apparently rare event for them. I was able to move on, I cannot say what their fate is or was.
My goal is to try, always, to treat others in the manner I would like to be treated. We do what we do, we do not have to inflict harm in the process.
