McConnell's stance has been articulated many times. It comes down to, he will not send a bill to Trump, that he knows Trump will either not sign, so it dies, or veto's so it dies. He wants a bill that Trump will sign. That is his bottom line.

If you think McConnell can make Trump, or any one can make Trump, do anything, you are almost as delusional as Trump is himself.
