My mind, as a child, used to run far ahead of my mouth, causing me to stutter. Eventually over came that, and later found that just taking a moment or two to respond, allowed my response to be much clearer and concise, without being harmful, at least in comparison to my formally quick response.

It taught me to slow down, and that unless there is someone bleeding in front of me, or worse, there is always time for a moment, and maybe a cup of coffee as well.
