Poor Mexico, so far from God, so near to the United States. That is an old saying, while it is to its credit, that it stood up for Austria, it should also be noted, that it is far easier to do so, on the other side of the Atlantic, right next to the United States.

It is worth pointing out the fate of Chancellor Dollfuss, who had he not been assassinated in 1934, by a Nazi inspired group, the Anschluss might never have happened. He was a fascist, but far from anything close to Nazism.
