Recently saw a museum show, “Sargent in Spain”. One of the wonders of such a show, as well as everything else in the museum, is seeing what man can accomplish, what beauty can be created, and how nice it is to be for a while, surrounded by man’s creativity, artistry, and accomplishments. It is a welcome change from the the all to common everyday reality, where all to little of any of that is readily available.
It was for this reason that Governor Earl Warren, later Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, to say he always read the newspapers, starting with the sports section. He wanted to read about man’s achievements before he got to his failures.
