Remember driving back from a wedding. Driving through some hills. At the top of one, which we reached after a slight rain, the car hit a patch of oil, just as we began to go down the hill.
The car seemed to levitate a bit, as we headed down. In front of me was a white light, had no idea what to do, so steered the car towards it continually.
The car did two 360 degree circles. Stopping on the median, which was gravel. Quickly left the car, checked the tires, they were all good, thought it was a blowout.
Meanwhile, if we had landed on the right, where there was no shoulder, we would have been in a drainage ditch. It is unlikely any of the seven of us would have made it out of the car.
We were all safe, the car was fine, so just drove on. My companions were very much less sanguine than me. They began to go over what might have happened, ignoring what did and our present condition. Such is life.
