The ego is a wonderful tool, it makes sure, usually, that we don’t walk into doors or off cliffs, that we remember to dress before going outside our house, and so forth. It is also a terrible master.
To seek to destroy the ego merely reinforces it. Far better to let it slip away as one gives thanks for what one has, while recognizing one does not live separate and apart from the Universe or any thing in it, rather one lives united and a part of everything. God could just as easily be inserted for everything.
