The inherent problem in America as opposed to 1930's Germany, is that America is polarized just about equally on both sides. Germany had the Nazi's at 42-43% and the communists, the socialists, the democrats etc. occupied the remaining 57-58%. No one group was large enough to do anything against them, and their internal divisions made it impossible to gather together as a united front.
In America with the Reps and the Dems about equal, it is a more bitter fight, though depending on which side you talk to, will depend on which side is the more dangerous. That is the real problem.
