The job of an adoption service, is to have people adopt children. Religion does in this manner help promote families. Having a religion insist on putting its religious imprint on what type of family, is not religion but indoctrination, if not ideology. The State should be in the business of seeing all who need adoption are adopted, the service that does it, may do so from a religious viewpoint, viewing it as being a good or godly thing to do, but it has no business limiting who can adopt based on religious views. That is the State setting up an establishment of a religion, even if a number of different ones are in the same field, doing the same service. That is or should be easily defeated on a First Amendment basis, that by the State giving over to a religious group, the right to help children be adopted, they do not give over to it, a veto over who can adopt, if they do not fit their religious ideals.
