The mob had no substantial support. The military was already on notice that they were not interested in a coup. The Judicial system was totally unimpaired. Even if they had gotten the ballot boxes or the ballots, states could and would simply reissue new ones. There was much symbolism in what happened, and might have happened, not unlike Kabuki Theater, but there was nothing substantial that they could have achieved.

The mob derailed nothing. The system worked, it continues to work. Trump is on his way out. What else matters.
