The Seven Years War, in Europe or the French-Indian War in America, went from 1756-1763. The strain on Britain’s finance, fighting a two front war, would have been exceedingly difficult. The was a multi-continent affair.
To be fair, the Brit’s wanted some recompense for the monies they spent defending the colonists. It took the abyss of World War II, to get American generosity to finally kick into gear.
Once the colonists were free from both French and Indian problems, the logistical next challenge was the Crown. They wanted their capital and to be free of taxes. That is as close to a description of the American dream as there is.
