There is a legend that an Angel came down to King Solomon with a goblet granting eternal life.
Solomon asked for three days to think it over.
On the third day the Angel returned. Solomon thanked the Angel but declined. He looked ahead to seeing the deaths of his wives, children, grandchildren, and forever onward. Who could be his friend, who would he be able to relate to?
Life beyond a given span offered nothing.
Would it be any different for us?
