Throughout college, when wasn’t studying or in class, was in San Francisco in the Haight. Hippies interested me, much more than almost all my fellow students. At least, , for me, the hippies were real, no show, no fuss, just there.
They just accepted me as me, for those who were straight, was no threat, for those who were interested or curious, was there. It is hard for a 5' 2" person to be much of a threat. Did some traveling, never really worried about being masculine, just about being me.
My pre-college years, were a totally different story due to health, which also insulated me from a lot of hassles. All of which gave me a sort of outside view of both worlds, and not much relationship to either, in terms of being this or that.
