We differ on what happened in the Garden of Eden. For me, it was not a case of disobedience, but rather one of refusing to accept responsibility for what one had done.
Once the knowledge of good and evil are known, so is honesty, morality, and responsibility. Adam refused to accept that he had done wrong. He instead insisted on passing the buck, and blaming another, Eve.
Eve just copied Adam’s response, which was also an abdication of responsibility.
We make mistakes along the way, the least we can do is to accept responsibility, and try to atone or make amends for our actions.
Also have read that Methuselah died in the year of the Flood. They have also recently found a few more chapters in the Epic of Gilgamesh.
Responsibility is literally the ability to respond correctly to the situation at hand. We all need good luck with that.
