Would a book, or conference consisting only of women have elicited the same response from you?
Your initial point of the scholarship, the information, the teachings, being of primary concern, that should rise or fall on their own, should be the point of any publication or conference. Women should not be excluded, but neither should men.
Perhaps equality is still yet to come for all, but to react to scholarship simply based on gender, is a form of discrimination, that is no better than what is trying to be erased. Perhaps my view is to Utopian, but if one does not aim for such, how is one ever to move towards it?
The point of some of the writing may be in disagreement, the quality and pleasure in reading it, is not.
