You are nearer to my thoughts. Having won equality before the law, including the right to marriage, it is now time to claim victory, and not use a cudgel, the law, on those who have lost, so long as they do no physical harm, to either people or their property. SSI(Same Sex Individuals, in whole or part), having emerged victorious, after half a century, from being declared mentally ill, to being seen as just people, have it in them, or should, in my view, to be merciful, to those who would be discriminatory.

Ideas never die, whether good or ill. For the moment, the tide is strongly towards equality, setting up examples of forcing others to do what they will not do willingly, does not promote social ease. The religious, and those who have just a given philosophy, will always find reasons to hate a given group(s). That is beyond law to change. Giving them no cause, acting justly and fairly, regardless as to others actions, provides a standard of action that is more conducive to better treatment, even by those who may not approve. It may only be one person, but that one marks an exception, and from there, who knows where things can go.

A mantra of mine, which tries to mirror this, is from Lincoln’s second inaugural address: “With malice towards none and charity for all…”, this may not be realistic, but it is my belief that it will bring about social peace quicker than anything else.
